In fact only one other player has eclipsed the 160/160 plateau, Lou Gehrig. In Ruth’s magical season, he would hit 59 home runs, 44 doubles, 16 triples and .378/.512/.846. Not too bad for a pitcher with a career 2.28 earned run average.
